Texas Nationalist Movement

TEXIT Basics

What is the difference between TEXIT and Texas independence?

There is no difference in the goal. Texas independence is the destination. TEXIT is the name for the campaign that gets us there. One is the where, the other is the how.

Texas independence is the outcome

Texas independence means Texas governing itself again as a free and independent nation, the way it did before it joined the union in 1845. It is a state of being. It is Texas making its own laws, signing its own treaties, spending the money Texans earn on the things Texans need, and answering to no government but its own. That is the end we are working toward, and it is the same end free peoples have reached all over the world.

TEXIT is the movement that gets us there

TEXIT is shorthand for "Texas Exit." It is the word for the organized effort to restore that independence. It follows the same naming the world used for Brexit, when Britain voted to leave the European Union. The campaign, the strategy, the referendum, the vote, the transition, all of that is TEXIT. Independence is what TEXIT delivers.

Why we use both words

The two words do different jobs, so we keep both. "Texas independence" is the precise, honest description of what Texas would have on the other side. "TEXIT" is the rallying point, the one word that tells a Texan exactly what we are fighting for and connects it to a global pattern they have already seen work. You will see us move between them, and that is on purpose.

Neither word is "secession"

What both words share is what they are not. They are not "secession." Secession is the word our opponents use to drag a peaceful vote back to 1861 and the Confederacy. Texas independence is restoration, not rebellion. The Texas Constitution still calls Texas "a free and independent State." We are reclaiming something Texas already had, not inventing something new, and we use the words that say so.

The bottom line

Texas independence is the goal. TEXIT is how we win it. Same fight, two words, one outcome: Texans decide the future of Texas.

Texas First. Texas Forever.

Texas should govern Texas. Be counted.
