Four moves to independence

TEXIT is a process, not an act.

Independence is not a single day or a magic piece of paper. It is a process with one destination: a Texas that is politically, culturally, and economically independent and self-governing. The plan to get there has four moves.

People think they know what TEXIT means, and most do not. It is not “Texas plus exit,” and it is not “national divorce.” Those are slogans, and a slogan earns views online, not a country. Brexit was a process. TEXIT is the same: the process of moving Texas from where it stands today to an independent, self-governing nation, and we have said so since 2005.

The destination is one sentence: Texas, politically, culturally, and economically independent and self-governing. Everything between here and there is the plan, and the plan is a war plan in four moves.

The honest part

A decision this size belongs to all Texans, not to the movement's leadership and not to headquarters. That is why it runs through a vote. The real question was never “when is TEXIT going to happen.” It is when the people of Texas decide to make it happen.

On the far side of that vote, the work of becoming a sovereign nation is real, and we are honest about what is settled and what is not. The institutions of an independent Texas, its currency arrangements, the final shape of its defense, are decisions for the Texas Legislature and the people of Texas to make as a free people. They are not for TNM to fix in advance. That is not a gap in the plan. It is the point of self-government: all political power is inherent in the people.

The people carry this across. That means you.
