TNM Calls on the Texas Rangers to Investigate Speaker Bonnen

TNM President Daniel Miller asked the Texas Rangers to investigate House Speaker Dennis Bonnen over possible violations of the state's anti-bribery law, citing the movement's commitment to good government.

NEDERLAND, Texas

Texas Nationalist Movement President Daniel Miller has called on the Texas Rangers to investigate Texas Speaker of the House Dennis Bonnen for possible violations of the state's anti-bribery statutes.

The request follows a publicized dispute in which Bonnen is alleged to have asked an outside organization to target specific members of the Texas House in the next election in exchange for media access to the House floor, a meeting that was recorded in full. Beyond the politics, the movement argued, there is a potential criminal matter for the Texas Rangers Public Corruption Unit to examine, and it submitted a formal complaint asking for a full, immediate, and transparent investigation.

“Some may view our organization as solely committed to a referendum on Texas independence, but a core part of our mission is to ensure that Texans have good government both before and after that referendum,” Miller said. “That means holding legislators and other public officials accountable for what they say and do.”
