Texas First Pledge Signers Win Up and Down the 2024 Ballot

Candidates who signed the Texas First Pledge won across the state in 2024, from the Legislature to county courthouses, building a bloc committed to Texans' right to vote on independence.

NEDERLAND, Texas

Candidates who signed the Texas First Pledge won races across Texas in 2024, from the Legislature to local courthouses. The pledge, which commits signers to put Texas first and to support the right of Texans to vote on independence, has now drawn 190 signers, including 65 current officeholders.

The Texas House gained a bloc of Texas First champions, among them Representatives Steve Toth, Shelley Luther, Andy Hopper, Mitch Little, and David Lowe. County governments and law enforcement added advocates as well, with pledge signers winning seats as county commissioners and constables from Smith County to Comal County.

“The political establishment tried to paint the Texas First Pledge as extreme, but these results prove what we have known all along,” said TNM President Daniel Miller. “When Texans understand that their right to self-government is on the line, they fight back. From the Capitol to our county courthouses, pledge signers are building a fortress of liberty.”

Found at taketexasback.com, the pledge commits officeholders to four principles: putting Texas interests first, upholding the right of Texans to alter their government, supporting legislation for an independence referendum, and working toward a fair separation should Texans vote for independence.
