TEXIT Petition Passes Two-Thirds of the Signatures Needed for the 2024 Ballot
The movement's petition to put a Texas independence question on the March 2024 Republican primary ballot passed 65,000 signatures, two-thirds of the threshold, gaining about 2,000 a day.
The Texas Nationalist Movement has passed another milestone in its petition to place a question on the March 2024 Republican primary ballot asking voters, “Should the State of Texas reassert its status as an independent nation?” To qualify under the Texas Election Code, the campaign needs 97,709 valid signatures.
The campaign has now surpassed 65,000 signatures, two-thirds of the goal, and is averaging roughly 2,000 a day. It crossed the mark after the largest TEXITCon yet, billed as the largest gathering of pro-independence activists and scholars in North America.
“We have been underestimated by the political establishment at every turn, but we have the support of the people who matter, Texans,” said TNM President Daniel Miller. “The closer we get to the deadline, the faster the signatures come in. The politicians, the media, and the establishment will finally have to take notice.”
